On loyalty, and a new chapter

This year has been an interesting year. I've learned a lot first-hand about group dynamics, esp. in the context of roommate relationships and how pre-existing friendships affect them. While I have always admired people who have longstanding loyalty, I learned that loyalty to a friend, group, or cause can blind people to what is happening around them.

Today is also a declaration of freedom, as I made an official leasing agreement to live alone. It is a necessary event in the cycle:

'03-'04: shared room with 1 roommate on a floor of double/triple rooms
'04-'05: shared room with 1 roommate in a four-person suite
'05-'06: lived alone
'06'-'07: had my own room but shared a suite with 1 roommate
'07-'08: lived in a highrise apt with 2 others
'08-'09: lived in a house with 3 others
'09''10: will be living in a studio alone!
*breath of relief*

Good times ahead... hopefully productive/fruitful times.

Hmm, the data indicates that you should have upgraded to a larger house with 5 individuals. Time will tell if your move is an outlier or a true pattern shift.

Congrats on the move.
