Before college started, a friend took me for the first time to have Vietnamese food. Apparently this noodle soup called "pho" was very popular and he ordered me the dish. Unfortunately, after one taste, I felt like barfing - the soup tasted extremely alien, there was too much hot sauce in there (I overestimated my tolerance) and there was an ingredient which I instantly loathed - cilantro.
Fast forward 5 and a half years later. I just got back from a pho joint, where not only did I have the massive combo pho, it had cilantro in it! I feel as if I am addicted to it now.
Funny how much can change in just 5 and a half years. Perhaps my hatred for pho to my addiction for it - that transformation - is symbolic for the many changes that I have gone through in the college and post-college years. Still learning something new every day about myself and about the world around me, which is great!

There is a Vietnamese place right next to our apartment. Sharon and I went and had some pho, and it was delicious... except we almost immmediately hit an MSG coma upon getting home. But it was good.
And I hear you on the cilantro. Stuff's nasty.
